California Tiger Moth, male

Identification: Black moth with a white line from the eye to the wings. Other white lines and patches seem to be variable. Hindwing mostly black to mostly orange. Male antennae comb-like or fringed; Female antennae without fringing.

Preferred Habitat:

Comments: Around Las Vegas, this species should be widespread. This specimen was photographed in southern Nevada (Desert National Wildlife Refuge, Las Vegas Range, Gass Spring area).
