Common Carrion Beetle (Dermestes marmoratus)

General: Common Carrion Beetles (Dermestes marmoratus) are found on carrion and dried meat. Adult hide beetles grow to about 14 mm (0.5 inches) long and are dark brown with light markings across the anterior ends wing covers.

This species can be a pest damaging food stuffs and other products, but they are useful in taxidermy for cleaning skulls and other bones.
